Biology to Cosmos (B2C) is a 12-week course and is the first of three courses comprising the OI HEART™ Coach Program. In Biology to Cosmos the OI systems process of coaching is clarified.
Belonging is our birthright. In Biology to Cosmos, OI Coaches learn how clients can find their preexisting experience of belonging. As clients discover this innate relatedness to belonging, the ills of alienation and disconnection begin to fall away.
B2C participants practice six primary contexts of belonging. These are frames of reference, basic holding environments (cf. Winnicott & Bion), where humans share beliefs, rituals, and where they can typically identify. These frames of reference help sync a client’s biology and way of being as it relates to:
1) Individual/Biological level
2) Family system level
3) Affinity or Clan level
4) Species level
5) Nature level
6) Cosmos level
Specifically, Biology to Cosmos demonstrates how symptoms are reinforced and fixated by the “explanation” arising at a given level. For instance, one person may ascribe to the explanation that they have depression as a biochemical imbalance—the biological level. For another, they may describe their condition as a spiritual passage, the dark night of the soul—a cosmological level of explanation of the same experience. Each level, from the biological to the cosmological, are examined, discussed, and practiced.
OI Coaches learn how the organizing B2C states form the neural networks of growth toward increased capacity, connectivity, and complexity within the client. This is the signature work of OI: the orienting of the client’s biology toward Auto-Organization, the natural, biological foundation of Post-Trauma Growth. Thus, one of the necessary skills emerging in this OI HEART Coach program is the coach’s ability to recognize the germination of this essential Post-Trauma Growth trend. B2C allows sufficient time to incorporate these organic growth skills and concepts from each level into one’s practice, personal and professional.
Biology to Cosmos is a 60-hr course comprised of lectures, study groups, demonstration sessions, practice, demonstration review, and group consultations with senior OI Teaching Assistants.
In addition to the minimum required hours, many students take advantage of the nearly 20 hours of optional offerings of Demonstration Review and Discussion + Q&A.
